MUSIC THEORY EP01a: Maths Behind The Music
Whilst we tend to think of music-making as an artistic endeavour, the science behind an individual note is fascinating and is, in fact, the truest measure of Pitch.
In this video, Jono takes you into the numbers behind the music, analysing a single note to understand fundamental frequency and the universe of harmonics. Jono will explain how harmonics relate to a fundamental, introducing pitches above the 'base frequency' of the note we choose to play.
He'll explain how the character and tone of the sounds around us form unique fingerprints based on their harmonic content alone and that without harmonics, the world of sounds around us would be far more limited. As an accompaniment to the Scales and Note Names video, this episode remembers that when it comes to music-making, art and science work together.
